BJ Papas is a photographer whose iconic pictures of hardcore bands like Agnostic Front and Murphy’s Law helped define the NY Hardcore scene. Her photos have been used on many albums including Bad Brains, Sick of it All, H20 and Sheer Terror.

In the 1980s, as BJ studied photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, she became a regular at Sunday matinees at CBGB’s. With camera in hand, she managed to capture the raw energy, raucous attitude, of the underground music scene merging at the time.

Her photography spans three decades and includes bands of all musical genres including Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Public Enemy and Metallica. Her photos can be seen in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Spin, Guitar World, Thrasher, and Revolver, to name a few.

BJ remains true to her punk/hardcore roots.

She now resides in Los Angeles, CA.
